COURT ORDERS MILITARY PATROL TO STOP HARASSING RESIDENTS.

Lawyer for the Nungua Youth in the legal tussle with the Tema development cooperation (TDC) , Forestry commission, Tema Municipal Assembly and the Military for unlawful selling Stool Lands belonging to the people of Nungua, Stephen Agyemang has assured residents not to be intimidated by the presence of the Military and that they are there on a general patrol duty mission dubbed Operation Calm Life.
In a hearing dated July 20, 2020, at the Tema High Court presided over by his Lordship Justice Emmanuel Ankamah, the lawyer retreated in his briefing the Judge has encouraged residents to video the Military if they do anything contrary to their reason for being there and submit it to the court on October 14, 2020.
The Military pleaded not guilty for using state property to protect government institutions involved in dubious sale of Nungua stool land.
According to the representative for the Military their presence there is to undertake general patrol duty and not to harass residents on their legally acquired property from the custodians of the Land.
Lawyer Stephen Agyemang however said the injunction which prevent the above mentioned government institutions from further sales of the Land, however empowers residents who have legally purchased the land from the custodians themselves to continue with any form of building project they have been involved in without the interference of anyone and noted is not his directives but that of the court.
He is therefore calling on residents not to harass the military patrol team as well since they are there for their protection.
Meanwhile the Nungua Youth Chairman Okle Ashong earlier told the media there had been series of complain on several occasions by residents for being assaulted by armed military men.
He also accused TDC, TMA and Forestry commission for selling this plot of lands to Emef estate, Bonavista, a golf club, ECG and do not account for what they have sold to the Nungua Traditional Authorities.
He is therefore calling on HE Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo to fulfil his 2016 election campaign promise “ to give back every portion of land dubiously taking away from the people of Nungua.
